Investment Analyst – French Speaking

Location: London
Position: Full-time
Travel: Occasional
Reporting to: Associate Director, Investment Team

About the Organisation

An international investment organisation focused on mobilising private investment into sustainable and inclusive infrastructure across emerging and frontier markets, particularly in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

The organisation provides investment, financing, guarantees and other forms of capital to help develop infrastructure projects, support economic development and contribute to the transition towards net zero.

We are looking for an Investment Analyst who is fluent in French to join the Investment team in London. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting investment origination, transaction execution and portfolio management across a range of emerging-market infrastructure investments.

The Role

Reporting to an Associate Director, the Investment Analyst will support the Investment team across the full transaction lifecycle — from origination and early-stage assessment through due diligence, financial close and ongoing portfolio monitoring.

The role will involve working collaboratively with senior investment professionals and colleagues across the organisation to assess, structure and execute transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the origination and execution of investment transactions, working with colleagues globally to progress opportunities from identification through to financial close.
  • Assist Directors and Associate Directors with originating new opportunities and preparing early-stage investment approvals.
  • Support transaction teams through early-stage due diligence and help ensure opportunities are appropriately structured and presented for approval.
  • Assist with:
    • Credit analysis
    • Financial modelling, including review, stress-testing and scenario analysis
    • Transaction structuring
    • Review of commercial and legal documentation
  • Support the preparation of new business proposals and final credit proposals.
  • Assist with due diligence processes, including coordinating with independent advisers and other external stakeholders.
  • Review project documentation and help ensure the organisation's position is appropriately protected.
  • Coordinate client onboarding and related processes, including KYC analysis.
  • Work with Impact and environmental, health, safety and social teams in assessing transactions and developing appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Develop a strong understanding of assigned transactions and actively monitor the portfolio following financial close.
  • Monitor transaction performance against financial covenants and environmental and social objectives, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Assist in managing relationships with borrowers, sponsors, guarantee beneficiaries, banks, agents and other transaction stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation and presentation of reports and recommendations to Portfolio Committee.
  • Work closely with Credit and other internal teams on portfolio matters.
  • Maintain accurate transaction information within internal systems.
  • Contribute ideas to improve investment processes, productivity and ways of working.
  • Take on increasing responsibility for portfolio management and, where required, transactions experiencing financial or operational difficulties.
  • Support other investment, research and portfolio-related activities as required.

Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong investment and analytical skills with fluent French-language capability.

Essential

  • Fluent French, both written and spoken.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Strong academic background and relevant professional qualifications or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience or familiarity with corporate and/or project finance in emerging or frontier markets.
  • Understanding of structured finance and/or project finance transactions.
  • Experience in credit risk assessment.
  • Experience with financial accounting and financial statement analysis.
  • Understanding of lending and fixed-income products.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and financial modelling.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and communicate conclusions clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
  • A collaborative, client-focused approach.

Desirable

  • Experience working on transactions in Africa, particularly Francophone Africa.
  • Experience working with international financial institutions, development finance institutions, export credit agencies, insurers or similar organisations.
  • Familiarity with guarantees, credit enhancement or similar financial products.
  • Experience working with clients or counterparties in French-speaking markets.
  • Additional language skills relevant to emerging and frontier markets.

Equal Opportunities

The organisation is committed to being an equal opportunities employer and values diversity and inclusion across its employees, associates, partners, service providers and stakeholders.
