The Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Lines Team Leader, you'll be responsible for underwriting new business and renewal risks across a broad Financial Lines portfolio. You'll work closely with brokers to deliver commercially competitive solutions while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.

This role offers the chance to contribute to the continued growth of an established Financial Lines proposition, with opportunities to mentor colleagues and influence underwriting strategy as your experience develops.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business and renewal risks across the Financial Lines portfolio.
• Contribute to ambitious growth plans by identifying and securing profitable new business opportunities.
• Manage and negotiate key renewal accounts to maximise retention while maintaining underwriting profitability.
• Develop and maintain strong trading relationships with broker partners, becoming a trusted and responsive underwriting contact.
• Review broker submissions, negotiate terms, and promote the insurer's Financial Lines products to win business.
• Make sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority and company underwriting guidelines.
• Handle cases from initial enquiry through to completion using underwriting workflow systems and e-trade platforms where appropriate.
• Act as a referral point for colleagues (where applicable), sharing technical expertise and supporting the development of junior underwriters.
• Stay up to date with market developments and emerging Financial Lines risks.

About You

We're keen to speak with Financial Lines Underwriters who have:

• Around three years' underwriting experience within Financial Lines, although candidates with more or less experience will also be considered.
• Experience underwriting both new business and renewals.
• Exposure to products such as Directors' & Officers' Liability, Professional Indemnity, Crime, Employment Practices Liability, Management Liability, or related Financial Lines classes.
• Experience using e-trade platforms such as Acturis (desirable but not essential).
• Strong broker relationship management and trading skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• The confidence to make underwriting decisions while balancing commercial opportunities with technical discipline.
• Experience supporting colleagues or handling underwriting referrals would be advantageous.
